  I looked for beef jerky stores online before my first ever trip to Asheville a drive of 600 miles. What an awful experience. My wife and I were "greeted" by a blonde teenage girl, who could barely manage eye contact and a nod, if you can call that a greeting. After that, she shadowed us around the store, more in "sentry/ security" mode, rather than a salesperson looking to help a customer. I wasn't offered a sample-- I had to ask for one. Unsure of how she wanted me to handle obtaining a sample (she didn't communicate) I watched as she snipped a piece and it fell to the floor. I felt as if she blamed me. Eventually, a different employee helped me. Even though she claimed it was her first day, she was MUCH more helpful. During checkout, it was back to the blonde girl-- AND SHE ADDED A PHANTOM $12 CHARGE for an item I didn't even touch. I caught the error after leaving the store and returned for a refund. The manager was extraordinarily apologetic and gave me a refund and discount. That blonde girl? Should be fired.
